The menstrual Cycle.

A study conducted by UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to prefer a man with scissors lodged in his temple and a bat jammed up his ass while he is on fire.

Further studies in this area have been cancelled.

I quote Former Australian Prime Minister John Howard :

« Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
Prime Minister Howard angered some Australian Muslims by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques. Quote: “IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians”.
“This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom”.
“We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the language!”
“Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture”.
“We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us”.
“This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.”
“If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted”. «

NB – I remember French President Sarkozy saying once : « If you don’t love France, leave ! »

Every year at my mother’s house (see the special page) is a spectacular moment when all flowers and trees start to bloom in spring. I wanted to share these pictures with you, just amazing.

These are the Peony roses, my favorite !

One of the most amazing flowers in her garden is the « Senateur LaFolette » a rampant Rosa Gigantea Hybrid that can grow to around 50 feet (16m) in height.

My mother, being an great garden amature, she visits English gardens every year, once said : »the only rose I miss in my garden is a Senateur LaFolette, but I can’t find it »… well that was enough information for us (since with Riviera Expat we can find EVERYTHING !!!), and with one phonecall we found her a plant. It arrived in a cartonbox, all wrecked, really little and it looked awfull, (actually, we never payed for it and they never asked us so…) we thought it would never live but here you are, this is the result after a few years :

It grows in a huge blue cedar, it goes it’s own way and it is just fabulous :

To have a closer look at the roses :
And here some of my favorites :

BTW, the house is on sale…

International Earth Day : Europe takes the initiative (click here to read the article)

It is always interesting to see how these « day’s » go by without noticing for so many people, it’s worth a try, just sit down, and think of the Earth for a minute, our Earth, our home, what do you see ?

I can see my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren… I hope they will still be able to enjoy this earth as we do, think of it, please…, even if it is just for today !

When someone is impatient and says, « I haven’t got all day, » I always wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day?

Mijn Moeps

Last week was quite an emotional week, with a funeral (see my earlier post, on Tante Oek) and birthdays (Philippe also had his b’day on the 12th) so I didn’t really have time to write. Here’s to my lovely « Moeps », a very special birthday (on the 10th) that we did celebrate after all, after our quick trip to Holland, which felt like a flight to China and back…very exhausting.

I wish you many many lovely years, you are the best Mum ! Dikke knuffel van je Toetel !
